Monumental open their doors to MotoGP fans

Friday 26th February 2010 saw members of various MotoGP forum communities enter the doors of Monumental Games for a 'first look' at MotoGP 09/10. Chosen from the Capcom European and X-Box Liveaddicts forums, our guests were offered the chance to play all three modes of the game.

After a brief introduction to the development team, 'who wants to chat when there's a game to play...!', our guests were more than happy to be whisked off to the boardroom, where we had the honour of showcasing the finished game to members of the public for the first time.

First up, it was Arcade mode, with our guests quickly getting to grips with the intuitive control system. Racing through all three bike classes (and racing extremely well we might add) they quickly worked their way through a lunchtime buffet of pizza before heading back to try out the Career mode.

With our guests keen to ask questions and offering us positive and constructive feedback, the afternoon was a continual success for both Monumental Games and our guests. As a developer, there will always be some intrepidation when it comes to showing off the fruits of our labour, especially to the public for the first time, but as the afternoon wizzed by, we began to relax, especially seeing the level of concentration on the faces of the riders as they tore around the tracks at ferocious speeds.

With time appearing to move in hours rather than minutes, we were soon playing the Online mode, which culminated in the development team taking a bit of a beating as our guests stepped up a gear! With up to 20 players online at anytime, a new record for the racing genre, the day over-ran by 40 minutes as no one actually remembered to check the time!

All in all, a great day's racing (even though the development team did get their a**es kicked in the Online mode) and a pleasure to meet some of the faces that appear in the various MotoGP forums.

If you want to ask our guests any questions about their day, you'll find them posting in this thread in the X-Box Liveaddicts forum. You'll also find a comprehensive report from one of our guests on Capcom's European forum.

MotoGP 09/10 will be released across North America on 16th March and Europe for PS3 and Xbox 360 on 19th March. Players will be able to update the game with all the 2010 season content, including the new Silverstone track and team updates, shortly after launch for free of charge.

The official Moto GP 09/10 demo will be released before launch on PSN and XBLA. Date to be confirmed.
